12.20 Front-Back-Offset Measurement
The station software supports the new Front-Back-Offset Measurement when placing chips with
the Fan-out Panel Level Package (FOPLP) technology. It measures the offset between the bottom
outline of a die and the electrical connection on the top. The Front-Back-Offset Measurement is
supported on the CA4 placement machine together with the C&P20 M and CPP placement heads.
The new SST40 stationary camera with glass plate has been introduced for this measurement. The
camera has to be manually mounted for each station. The die is placed on the center of the glass
plate for measurement. First the camera measures the bottom outline of the die. The result of this
measurement is used to correct the estimated position of the structure on the top side which is
measured afterwards. The difference between the expected and the measured position of the
structure is the so-called "die offset".
The dies to be measured from a wafer must be selected in SIPLACE Pro. Each die that shall be
measured by the Front-Back-Offset Measurement must be enabled. The dies which are used for
Front-Back-Offset Measurement will be picked-up at first and used to compute the offset average.
The resulting offset is used for all other dies of this wafer to place the dies correctly.
An individual wafer can be selected in the Setup view of the SIPLACE Wafer System on the station
software GUI. If Front-Back-Offset Measurement is activated for dies provided by this wafer, the
following specific data will be displayed for the wafer:
– Offset and deviation
– Number of measured dies
– Number of measured dies with a minimum percentage of measured dies with "good result". I.e.,
the measurement was successful, and the measurement result was used to compute the offset.
All component shapes must be complete before production starts. Teaching during production is
not supported.
12.21 Checking GigE Camera Connections – Enhanced Functionality
The functionality to check GigE camera connections has been enhanced in the Maintenance view
under Camera Verification – Check all camera connections. In addition to failed connections, a
possibly existing transmission error rate for working connections will be displayed.
The transmission error rate is displayed in DPM (Defects Per Million).
1 DPM = from one million transmitted data packages, one package was faulty.
A transmission error rate < 10 DPM is no problem but significantly higher values indicate a
hardware problem of the transmission link. In this case, the plug of the trailing cable should be
checked. Possibly, the VBI (Vision Base Interface) and / or VHI (Vision Head Interface) must be
exchanged.

13 Feature Description – Station Software V712.x
Features (V712.0 (R18-2): Compatible Mode 711.2)
13.1 Customer-specific Nozzles – Improvements
Compatible mode: Hidden
The treatment of customer-specific nozzles has been improved as follows:
Nozzle ID
Customer-specific nozzles for the C&P20 P and CPP heads can be equipped with a nozzle ID. A
nozzle ID can be specified for 6xxx, 4xxx, 2xxx and 28xx customer-specific nozzles in SIPLACE
Pro. The nozzle ID will be sent to the station when a job is downloaded from SIPLACE Pro.
Automatic Nozzle ID Recognition
The automatic nozzle ID recognition can be performed for the customer-specific nozzles in the
same way as for standard nozzles. For more information, please refer to the description in section
7.11 of the Feature Description 7xx, item no. [00197741-xx].
Display Customer-Specific Nozzles at the Station
The name of customer-specific nozzles will be displayed in an additional line in the Head view
(Current and Specified columns) and Nozzle Changer view (Current and Replace with columns)
respectively. The name will not be stored and is only displayed when a job is downloaded from
SIPLACE Pro.
Contamination Scan
Please refer to section 13.15.10.
13.2 "IPC-HERMES-9852" – Enhancements
Compatible mode: Complete
Following enhancements have been made in the implementation of the "IPC-HERMES-9852"
protocol for Hermes 1.1 for the placement machines:
Machine support
The station software also supports "IPC-HERMES-9852" on the SIPLACE SX1/SX2 placement
machines.
Board Forecast
A new BoardForecast message announces a new board or just a product with no board available.
In addition, length, width and thickness have been added to the MachineReady message to
indicate for which type of board the machine is ready.

Check Alive Response
A placement machine may request an immediate response to its CheckAlive message.
Request Board Information
A placement machine may query its predecessor for the board ID of a board via its top or bottom
barcode. Default number of persisted boards: 100 per lane.
The board data will not be stored and gets lost if the machine is shut down.
Board Weight
The weight attribute in the BoardAvailable message specifies an optional board weight.
Interface ID in the Configuration
For equipment with multiple input/output ports, an additional ID in the configuration message
differentiates between them.
13.3 OSC Package Option – Enhancements
Compatible mode: Hidden
Detailed information on the OSC Package features can be found in the OSC Package User Guide,
item no. [00198374-xx].
The main enhancements made for the OSC Package Option in the station software and SIPLACE
Vision are listed in the overview below.
Snap-In Detection
– The board data will not be deleted when the board is removed for inspection.
– Improved teaching step:
It is no more required to let just one board enter the machine for teaching. When the
components of the first board with Snap-In positions have been placed, the next board will not
be placed until the Snap-In positions on the first board have been verified by the operator.
Restrictions
Not supported on SIPLACE CA4 and CA4 V2 placement machines.
Stereo Measurement
– Until now, only THT pins were supported for stereo measurement. As of SIPLACE Vision
version 5.6.1, Pattern Features and Gullwing lead group types are supported additionally.
– Optionally, a new option (4x image capture) can be used to try to improve the height resolution
and reduce the minimal feature size.
