• Performance of the action:
Teach the calibration plate centrally over the glass disk of the component camera (check the vision
evaluation screen) → press the "END" button on the teach panel.
• The calibration plate is now placed onto the glass disk of the component camera several times from dif-
ferent directions.
4. The calibration factors determined are displayed as follows, for example:
CALIBRATION FACTORS
COEFFICIENTS IN X -.0016 ........ .........
COEFFICIENTS IN Y ....... . ........ ..........
VALUES X3 AND Y3 ARE NOT STORED BUT OCCUPIED WITH 0.
➤ In the case of an error, the screen display appears:
CALIBRATION NOT SUCCESSFUL AFTER FIVE ATTEMPTS
PLEASE CHECK HARDWARE (E.G. AMPLIFICATION, POSITION CONTROL )
• In this case of error the values are not transferred into the computer and the measuring procedure is
not continued.
Troubleshooting:
• Select "END" (function key) → the PCB together with the plate is conveyed to the output conveyor.
• Check the calibration plate for contamination or oxidation.
• Clean the glass disk of the component camera module with a premoistened lens cloth.
• Repeat the measurement (see point 2). If the measurement is correct, point 6 follows.
• If this error recurs during the second measurement run, inform the SMD Service of Siemens AG.
5. If the measurement is correct (no display) then the check measurement is carried out automatically and
the display appears on the screen:
EXAMINATION OF CALIB. FACTORS
➤ The calibration was incorrect: Error message (as above) "CALIBRATION NOT SUCCESSFUL
AFTER FIVE ATTEMPTS".
➤ The calibration was successful: The values are transferred to the main memory and point 7 follows.
6. The measurement "DETERMINE CAMERA CENTRE" follows automatically. The values are displayed,
as for example:
DETERMINE COMP. CAMERA CENTRE
CAM. CENTRE RELATIVE TO REF. POINT X= 423.28 [MM]
Y= -17.94 [MM]
• The values determined are automatically transferred to the main memory.
7. The procedure "DETERMINE ROTATION ANGLE" is automatically carried out:
• After the calibration plate has been deposited the center of the row of leads in both x and y-directions
is determined and the angular offset is calculated from these values.

8. The result is displayed as follows, for example:
DETERMINE ANGLE OFFSET
ANGLE OFFSET; CAMERA <--> GANTRY AXES: -0.33 [GRAD]
PRESS <RETURN>
• Press "RETURN". The angle offset determined (designation in the MA-Data: "PLACEM.ANG. CORR.
AFT.CENTER.) is transferred to the main memory.
9. The function keys as well as the following text are displayed:
SELECT A REFERENCE TRACK !
10. Press the function key of the track which is used as the reference for the component camera center.
The selected values for "POSITION CENTERING STATION" (position of the component camera) are
transferred to the main memory. If "CONTINUE" is selected, the values determined are not saved!
11. Confirm with "RETURN". The COMPONENT CAMERA MENU is displayed.
12. Select "END" (function key). The calibration plate is deposited on the PCB and conveyed to the
output conveyor together with it.
13. The placement head is moved to the waiting position.
14. Remove the PCB from the output conveyor. The main menu is displayed on the screen.
15. From the main menu select now "STORING".

INCREASE DANGER OF ACCIDENT
Before you continue working, note the following text!
➤ The coplanarity laser module should be situated next to the component camera (track-related)!
➤ Special safety regulations apply when working with the coplanarity laser module.
➤ Adhere to all the safety notes/instructions described in the operating instructions, section "Coplanarity
Laser Module", as the laser works in a wave and power range
that is dangerous to skin and eyes !!
➤ The safety device must on no account be bypassed or manipulated in any other way (see operating in-
structions "Coplanarity Laser Module", under "Safety Devices").
➤ The keyswitch must remained locked during the whole procedure!(see also chapter 2 "Safety")!)!

DANGER OF A PLACEMENT HEAD CRASH!
If you release the EMERGENCY STOP function (by actuating the EMERGENCY STOP button or by
opening the protective cover without being prompted to do so) during this measuring routine, the Z-axis -
due to the Z-axis clamping unit - is always in the "lower" position and cannot be raised by the software
while the control is deactivated.
In this situation, the information contained in section 2.2 is to be observed!

Testing aids required
• Calibration nozzle for coplanarity laser module, item no. 00301711
• Teach-in panel, external, item no. 00132207
NOTE
The values determined in this measuring routine will be written to the MA_ZUSATZ file.
1. From the main menu select "DETERMINE COPLANARITY COORDINATES".
The following display appears on the screen:
REMOVE ADAPTER FROM NOZZLE
PRESS <RETURN>
2. Open the protective cover, remove the adapter and press "RETURN".
The following display appears on the screen:
LASER CALIBRATION
PLEASE MOUNT THE CALIBRATION UNIT.
MACHINE MOVING TO SERVICE POSITION
PLEASE PRESS <START> KEY
NOTE
If, in the exceptional case, the error message "COMMUNICATION ERROR WITH LASER MODULE" is
displayed, proceed in accordance with WORKAROUND, section 12.6.
• Performance of the action displayed:
Wait for the placement head to assume the service position → Open the protective cover → mount the
calibration nozzle for the coplanarity laser module in correct position in the sleeve → tighten ring nut
(without pinching the O-ring) → if a cover is still mounted on the laser module it is to be removed now
→ close protective cover → switch on the control → press the "START" button.
3. The placement head moves above X/Y-position entered in the file MA_ZUSATZ or "_. sk"/ "_.kd". The Z-
height is referred to the "CENTERING CAMERA HEIGHT" and thus the "Head height".
4. The following screen display appears:
IS CALIBRATION UNIT OVER LASER BEAM ? (YES / NO)
NOTE
This message is also displayed if no position has been entered in the file MA_ZUSATZ or "_.sk" / "_.kd"
during initial start-up. Select the function key for "NO" in this case. The further procedure is identical to
the one described in the following.
• Visually inspect in X and Y-directions whether the nozzle is positioned approximately centrally
above that "eye" of the laser which is closest to the fixed conveyor side.
5. Select the appropriate function key for YES or NO.
