5 Description of the Menu Options
This chapter contains information required for the performance of the measuring routines!
➤ The sequence in this description is consistent with the sequence of menu options as displayed on the
screen and thus also with the sequence of performance. Exceptions from this rule are "glass mapping"
and "NOZZLE MENU" (see foot notes, Fig. 1.2 main menu).
5.1 Description of the Menu Options for HS-180 Placement Stations
5.1.1 Edit Menu
After selecting the Edit Menu the submenu appears (see Fig. 1.3). You can select here between the data and
the functions.
In the EDIT MENU all MA-data can be viewed, although only a few given values can be edited.
Within the measuring sequence of the routine check the "EDIT MENU" is required for the following activities:
— Upon starting the AutoCal program to establish the correct starting condition.
After the screen query "Z-AXIS IN UPPER POSITION?" has been answered with NO (function key), the pro-
gram returns to the main menu. Thus, the EDIT MENU is also available at this point of the measuring sequen-
ce. You can check/edit/save the reference point mode, the zero point correction values, etc., and ensure the
proper reference run of individual axes (in the specified sequence H → Z → D → X → Y !) or all axes, directly
from the Edit Menu by selecting the "AXES INIT MENU".
— After the determination and change of the MA zero point correction values, to correct the min. and max.
X/Y-travel paths in the MA-data. This ensures that the limit switches of the positioning axes (at the X and
Y-zero point correction values entered) are not reached.
The values entered are transferred to the MA_FILE of the work diskette by selecting the "STORING" menu
option.
5.1.2 Checking the Axis Adjustment
Execute the "CHECK AXIS ADJUSTMENT" function right at the start of the AutoCal measuring sequence.
If the position control is outside the permissible tolerance of a
total of 2 counts
, the "CHECK POSITION CON-
TROL OF AXIS" display appears. The execution of further measuring routines would lead to incorrect results!
Therefore select in the event of an error the "AXES MOVEMENT MENU" and perform the axis adjustment
with the aid of this menu and the documentation relating to the axis adjustment (adjustment instructions of
the machine).

5.1.3 Measuring the Machine Zero Point
This menu option is used to determine the
X and Y-correction values
of the MA zero point.
The MA zero point in the MA-data remains unchanged!
The determination of the zero point correction values using the MA zero point gauge is, among others, pre-
requisite for mapping (Mapping Menu).
—
For tolerance reasons the
same
setting gauge must be used for
all
stations of a line (= one gauge per
line!) Mark the allocation of the gauge to the line on the adjusting gauge, e.g. by using a water-resistant
marker pen.
—
This means that also the elevating table rails must not be interchanged among the different stations!
➤ Pay attention to the WORKAROUND relating to this menu option → section 12.3
5.1.4 DETERMINE ECCENTRICITY OF NOZZLE
This measuring routine is used to check and evaluate any runout of the sleeve either during a routine check
or in the event of a malfunction, or after a mechanical impact acting on the Z-axis:
"ECCENTRICITY OF NOZZLE WITHIN/OUT OF TOLERANCE".
NOTE
Proper nozzle concentricity is a prerequisite for the determination of machine data.
If the nozzle concentricity is outside the tolerance, the AutoCal program must be temporarily exited from and
troubleshooting activities on the sleeve (replacement of the sleeve, etc.) need to be performed or a replace-
ment placement head mounted in the meantime.
For troubleshooting on the 30 mm placement heat proceed in accordance with the "Special Service Manual".
5.1.5 DETERMINE HEAD HEIGHT
This measuring routine is used to determine the exact head height in dependence of the head position (moun-
ting height) and in relation to the height of the conveyor belt top edge (= PCB bottom edge).
The determination of the exact head height is prerequisite for the determination of all other Z-positions on the HS-180.
The following must be checked
prior to starting
the AutoCal program (especially after mounting the place-
ment head):
➤ In the MA-data the correct no. in accordance with the ACTUAL mounting height (1, 2 or 3) must be ente-
red under "HEAD POSITION".
➤ The values for the head height (in mm) in the MA-data must be already correct within close tolerances.

5.1.6 TRACK MEASURING MENU
After selecting this main menu option a submenu (see Fig. 1.4) is displayed. Using the first four menu options you
determine, in the sequence displayed (see Fig. 1.4) the exact pick-up positions of tracks 2 and 86 of the fixed and
movable component tables. The position of the component table in relation to the gantry is thus determined.
Upon measuring track 2 of the movable component table, the "SENSOR OFFSET MOVABLE TABLE Y" is also deter-
mined. It indicates the distance between the Bero switching point and the pick-up position of track 2/2 in Y-directi-
on. This value is required within the course of measuring routine "DETERMINE PCB EDGE FIXED TABLE".
The following menu options are used for
testing purposes
only:
• "ANY TRACK OF FIXED SIDE",
• "ANY TRACK OF MOVABLE SIDE".
Prior to the execution, at least an initial value (drawing dimension) must be entered in the MA-data under "Bero
Offset
" and "PCB EDGE FIXED TABLE Y". The default value for "PCB EDGE FIXED TABLE Y" is the value "71mm".
5.1.7 PCB EDGE FIXED TABLE
This measuring routine is used to determine "PCB EDGE FIXED TABLE Y". After adjusting the conveyor to
match the PCB used and entering the PCB width measured, the Bero switching point is determined and dis-
played in mm on the screen together with the internally calculated value "PCB EDGE FIXED TABLE".
The value "BERO OFFSET MOVABLE TABLESIDE Y" is also included in the calculation "PCB EDGE FIXED TA-
BLE".
The previous performance of the "TRACK MEASURING MENU" measurements (see section above) is also a pre-
condition!
You require the "PCB EDGE FIXED TABLE" value in the AutoCal measuring sequence and in the placement
cycle as starting value for the automatic width adjustment of the conveyor:
— In the AutoCal measuring sequence:
to adjust, for example, the conveyor automatically to the width of the mapping plate for the mapping operation,
to adjust the exact desired width using the "CONVEYOR WIDTH ADJUSTMENT".
— in the placement cycle, to adjust the conveyor automatically to the PCB width entered in the NU file.
5.1.8 MAPPING MENU
Mapping is used for the automatic measurement of the gantry offset.
Upon mapping, the PASSPKT file Mapping file) or the "_.SRP" file is created in the station UNIX line compu-
ter. The determined correction values entered in this file are then taken into consideration during the place-
ment cycle upon approaching the placement positions. This results in an increase in the placement accu-
racy of the station. Mapping needs therefore to be performed for each station of a line.
For the performance of the comparison measurement you require the existing PASSPKT file (in the case of
UNIX line computers the
" _.SRP" file) of the station contained on the work diskette. Such comparison measurement is, however, not
required for the routine check!
