4. Now approach the limit switches of the X and Y-axes in the sequence specified below and make a note of
the values determined.
NOTE
Press against a suitable place on the gantry carriage or take hold of the head by the grip.
Sequence of steps for manual determination of values:
Move the X-axis into the direction of the output station until the limit switch releases an audible click.
- If no "clicking" can be heard: limit switch is defective or maladjusted (see Service Manual).
- Clicking can be heard: Read off the value (counts) from the axis controller card.
Deduct 20 counts from this value and take this value down as "max. X-axis travel range".
Push the X-axis toward the front in the direction of the input station until this limit switch audibly
clicks.
Again read off the value from the X-axis controller card again deduct 20 counts from this value
take this value [in counts] down as "min. X-axis travel range".
Now determine and make a note of the min. and max. travel paths of the Y-axis proceeding in the
same way as described for the X-axis (Caution: Y-axis above the movable component table toward
the left = max. Y-travel path) deduct 20 counts in each case take down these values properly as-
signing them to the min. / max. Y-travel paths.
5. As a final step, make absolutely sure that none of the limit switches is actuated !
Therefore slide the X and Y-axes sufficiently far toward the machine center.
NOTE
If one of the limit switches is actuated upon continuing the AutoCal program sequence, this would lead to
malfunctions!
6. Now re-activate the X and Y-axes on the axis controller cards.
7. Close the control cabinet door and the protective covers.
8. From the main menu now select the "EDIT MENU" and thereafter "X-AXIS" / "Y-AXIS".
9. Observing the correct assignments, enter the four values [in counts] in the MA-Data under "MIN. / MAX. X /
Y-AXES TRAVEL RANGES".
NOTE
If more than 20 counts are deducted the component camera is likely to lie outside the travel range. Pay
attention to the negative sign of the minimum travel paths (see Fig. 12.2).
10. From the EDIT MENU select "STORING" the values determined are saved to the work diskette.
11. Accept the travel path values via the "AXES INITIALIZING MENU" "ALL AXES".

7.5 Determining Concentric Running of Nozzle
Tools and Testing Aids Required
Steel nozzle, type 104, item no. 00301435
New MA-zero point gauge with 2 holes, item no. 00120060
Spherical hexagon socket screw key size 3
1.
From the main menu select "DETERMINE ECCENTRICITY OF NOZZLE" whereafter the following display
appears on the screen:
DETERMINE ECCENTRICITY OF NOZZLE
PLEASE PRESS <START> KEY
2.
The
further procedure
(insert MA-zero point gauge and install steel nozzle) is as described for "Measure
Machine Zero Point" (from point 2 up to and including point 3).
3.
After the "START" button is pressed, the nozzle moves into the measuring hole of the
gauge and starts measuring the concentricity of the sleeve: After each measurement the nozzle is raised,
turned by 90 degrees and lowered again into the measuring hole.
The values
determined for the concentric running of the nozzle together with the evaluation of the re-
sults
are displayed, as for example:
DEGREES Y X in COUNTS
0 20190 5300
90 20189 5301
etc.
ECCENTRICITY OF NOZZLE IS (X,Y) 1 1 [DIGIT]
ECCENTRICITY OF NOZZLE WITHIN TOLERANCE
REMOVE THE MACHINE ZERO POINT
PLEASE PRESS <START> KEY
If the deviation is too great
(sleeve runout > 0.02 mm in total) the following
error message
is dis-
played
:
ECCENTRICITY OF NOZZLE OUT OF TOLERANCE
ECCENTRICITY DETERMINATION OF NOZZLE IS IMPOSSIBLE
Previously determined values are invalid. The error on the placement head must be eliminated as fol-
lows:
29 mm head: Troubleshooting, see Service Manual, chapter 9 "Placement Head".
30 mm head: Troubleshooting can
only be carried out at the factory
by customers especially trained
by SIEMENS AG according to the instructions contained in the "Special Service Instructions 30 mm
Placement Head".
NOTE
The placement head has to be removed for troubleshooting. After the installation of a (replacement)
placement head the
complete
procedure must be repeated beginning with the start of the program!

Performance of the action (see screen display):
Open protective cover remove MA-zero point gauge close protective cover switch on control
press the "START" button press "END" display of the main menu.
After "ECCENTRICITY OF NOZZLE OUT OF TOLERANCE": The values determined are not saved.
After "ECCENTRICITY OF NOZZLE WITHIN TOLERANCE": Perform "DETERMINE HEAD HEIGHT".
7.6 DETERMINE HEAD HEIGHT
Testing aids required:
Steel nozzle in perfect condition, type 104, item no. 00301435
Steel plate, completely even and not at all bent, with parallel edges (thickness approx. 2 mm)
(alternatively, a PCB with a side without conduction paths)
For machines up to and including batch identity no. 3 the conveyor width is now to be adjusted to the
width of the PCB (using the handwheel).
1. From the main menu select the menu option "DETERMINE HEAD HEIGHT". The display of the function
keys for width adjustment and the following prompt appear:
ADJUST CONVEYOR WIDTH TO PCB WIDTH
For the performance of the action and use of the function keys: see section 5.1.19.
When the adjustment is completed, press "END".
2. After "END" (conveyor width is adjusted) has been pressed, the prompt to enter the PCB thickness is
displayed:
ENTER PCB-THICKNESS [MM]
0.00
3. Measure the plate thickness or the PCB thickness in a place with no conductor paths, using the slide gauge,
and enter the exact thickness in mm into the computer.
WARNING
!
!
Points and not commas must be used to denote decimal places !!
4. The following display appears on the screen:
PLEASE PLACE A PC BOARD OVER THE SENSOR OF THE INPUT CONVEYOR
Performance of the action:
Visual inspection: If a PCB is used, the side with no conductor paths must be facing up ! insert steel
plate or PCB (the thickness of which was entered)the plate is moved into the center conveyor.
5. The following display appears on the screen:
CHECK IF Z-AXIS IS ON PCB (NOT IN HOLE OR ELEVATION)
PRESS <RETURN>
Performance of the action:
Visual inspection: The Z-axis must be positioned on the PCB (condition for the correct measurement)
subsequently press "RETURN" in any case.
