•
After installation of the placement head and before starting the AutoCal program, it must be checked whe-
ther the mounting height is correctly set (with the waffle-pack tray in the upper position!). If working with
an HS-180, it must further be verified if the correct head position no. is entered in the MA-Data.
•
At no stage of the program is pressing the EMERGENCY STOP button a prerequisite for the work with the
AutoCal program. The EMERGENCY STOP button should therefore only be actuated in a real emergency.
•
When working with the Axis Movement Menu, further safety requirements are displayed.
Please refer to the following section 2.3.
•
If the EMERGENCY STOP function is activated while the "DETERMINE COPLANARITY COORDINA-
TES" measuring routine is called up, the placement head must not be moved manually under any circum-
stances (see last point below!).
2.2 Protective Functions / Interventions During the AutoCal Program Run
•
Similar to all previous AutoCal versions, the keyswitch is to remain locked, removed from the lock and
kept in a safe place at all times when carrying out any of the measuring routines!
•
To interrupt a measuring routine already in progress, actuate the "BREAK". This causes the program
to return to the next higher menu option.
This is necessary if you have, for example, inadvertently pressed the START button before the activity shown
on the screen (e.g. "insert gauge") was completed. All data determined so far, but not yet saved, will be lost.
The EMERGENCY STOP button must not be used for this purpose, nor for carrying out the activities dis-
played on screen.
NOTE
Activating the emergency stop function (by pressing the EMERGENCY STOP button or opening the pro-
tective cover without being prompted to do so) causes the program to return to the next higher menu opti-
on. All data already determined but not yet saved during the current measuring routine will be lost.
•
The protective cover should be opened only after a prompt to do so is displayed on the screen (e.g.
such a prompt to carry out a specific activity may, for instance, include "insert mapping plate"). Thereafter,
close the protective cover, switch on the control and press the START button. The program resumes ope-
ration from the point it was interrupted.
•
If the EMERGENCY STOP button is actuated during the "DETERMINE COPLANARITY COORDINA-
TES" measuring routine (either by pressing the EMERGENCY STOP button or opening the protective co-
ver without having been prompted to do so), the Z axis is always in the "lower" position and cannot
be raised by the software!!
➤ In this situation, you must not move the placement head manually under any circumstances (Z axis crash!).
➤ Do not attempt to move the Z axis upwards by hand either, because the z-axis clamping unit is in effect.
Any attempt to move the Z axis by hand will cause damage to the clamping mechanism or the sleeve.
➤ In this situation, the Z axis will move upward only after "CONTROL ON" has been actuated.

2.3 Safety Requirements During the Performance of the Axis Movement Menu
The following criteria apply:
•
Whenever the gantry is moved the Z-axis must be positioned at 0 counts.
•
In the case of high speeds the protective cover must be closed and the key switch
activated
(= locked and removed!).
If the keyswitch is in service position, the following message is displayed:
"KEY SWITCH IN SERVICE POSITION. Z AXIS IS MOVING SLOWLY!"
In this case, the START button
must be pressed before the gantry is moved into any direction. The axis then moves at
normal
AutoCal
speed (= 1). If the protective cover is closed and the keyswitch is turned, the system
immediately travels
again
at the selected continuous running speed. Actuation of the START button is not requested.
•
The limit switches must be interrogated. If overshooting causes the system to reach a limit stop, the error mes-
sage "
Error: X axis #305 axis error ’limit switch actuated’
" is displayed
(this applies to the HS-180 !)
.
On the
MS machines
the limit switch is coupled electrically directly to the EMERGENCY STOP handling.
If the limit switches are actuated, the following message is therefore displayed:
"EMERGENCY STOP! ! ! Please unlock limit switch and switch on control".
However, the EMERGENCY STOP button is disengaged. Pressing and subsequently disengaging the
EMERGENCY STOP button causes the program to continue.
•
When editing the parameters the values must be checked for plausibility. The target positions are compa-
red to the maximum and minimum travel ranges. An error message will be issued if a position is excee-
ded. The same applies to the "speed" and "force" parameters.
2.4 Safety Requirements During the Performance of the I/O Menus
The following criteria apply:
WARNING
∆
!
∆
!
Simultaneously setting
competing outputs can cause
damage to the machine
!
This situation is
n o t ( ! ) monitored by the software!
•
The
EMERGENCY STOP handling
is
de
activated during the entire I/O menu operation.
•
In the event of an EMERGENCY STOP, the Z-axis will
n o t ( ! )
be raised! This means that (similar to the Z-axis handling in the event of an EMERGENCY
STOP during coplanarity measurement) that here again the head must not be moved by hand in order to
prevent damage to the Z-axis (see section 2.2 , bottom)!
•
During I/O menu operation the placement head is positioned above the area of the PCB transport and the
gantry axes are disabled. As soon as either of these two functions is exited from, the AutoCal program
performs a check as to whether, for example, the control is still switched on (screen display).
