12 Workarounds
The Workarounds listed in the following should be taken into account when performing the calibration!
12.1 Language Selection
No possibility exists to select the language when a twin floppy disk drive is fitted and the program is started
from diskette. AUTOCAL uses GERMAN as the default language. To be able to work in a different language,
the corresponding text file simply needs to be renamed on the installation diskette 1, proceeding as follows:
1. RENAME "ACT_114D" TO "ACT_D_BAK"
2. COPY "ACT_114x" TO "ACT_114D"
➤ The "x" has to be replaced with the applicable language code (E, F,....).
The supported languages are assigned the following files:
German: ACT_114D
English: ACT_114E
French: ACT_114F
Italian: ACT_114I
Spanish: ACT_114S
12.2 "CONVEYOR BELT WIDTH ADJUSTMENT"
➤ On
HS placement station / adhesive station II and MS-1xx
machines with
automatic width ad-
justment
the function key bar for adjusting the conveyor width appears prior to the insertion of the PCB in
the input conveyor.
• If the conveyor width has already been properly adjusted and if the function key F8 "END" is immedi-
ately pressed, this function bar will not appear any more during the measurements that follow.
• If you have in the meantime readjusted the conveyor width manually and subsequently wish to use a
different PCB width, you can only select the "CONVEYOR WIDTH ADJUSTMENT" function from the
main menu in this situation.
• After changing the conveyor width by means of the main menu option, the function bar will be redis-
played prior to the measurements.
➤ HS-180 Placement Station / Adhesive Station II: After entering the desired "width in mm" (function key
of "CONVEYOR WIDTH ADJUSTMENT") the following situations may arise in exceptional cases or if an
error has occurred:
• In the case of a deviation of the Bero sensing distance it may happen that the Bero of the movable con-
veyor side responds to other parts of the machine first, e.g. part of the gantry. In this case the program
checks once more if the current width corresponds to the desired width. The conveyor is moved until
the setpoint position coincides with the actual position. Just wait for this to occur.
• In the case of a defective conveyor clamping unit the procedure will produce no result (is not termina-
ted). In this case, the process must be aborted by pressing EMERGENCY STOP. Data that were not
saved will be lost. Eliminate the malfunction (see Service Manual) and repeat the routines concerned.

12.3 "MEASURE MACHINE ZERO POSITION"
In the case of deviations, the following message is currently displayed on the screen of HS-180, Adhesive
Station and MS machines:
"NOTICE: REPEAT MEASUREMENT OF COMPONENT CAMERA OFFSET". This is meant as a general note.
Within the scope of an individual check,
all
follow-up activities must always be performed as described in
chapter
6
"Interdependent Calibrations" under the topic "DETERMINE MACHINE ZERO POSITION".
For a Routine Check involving the performance of all routines offered this message is of no significance.
12.4 "EXECUTE NEXT 4 POINTS" / "DETERMINE CAMERA NOZZLE OFFSET"
On HS-180 and MS-1xx machines, check the
"DETERMINE CAMERA NOZZLE OFFSET"
values by means
of the corresponding
Service Manual
(for MS-102/132, see 2.8 "Determining Machine Data")
following
the
AutoCal measuring procedure.
In the case of deviations from the values determined in the AutoCal measuring procedure,
correct
the came-
ra-nozzle offset accordingly.
12.5 "COMPONENT CAMERA MENU" an MS-1xx
The message "PLUG-IN POSITION NEXT TO COMPONENT CAMERA MUST BE FREE DURING CALI-
BRATION !!" displayed on the screen of MS-machines during the AutoCal measuring sequence does
not
apply to MS-machines.
12.6 "DETERMINE COPLANARITY COORDINATES"
If the station software had been running on HS-180 and MS-1xx machines prior to the performance of the
measurements by means of the AutoCal program it may occur that the following error message is displayed:
COMMUNICATION ERROR WITH LASER MODULE
Correction:
• First save the data determined so far by selecting "STORING".
• Thereafter turn off the machine and restart the program.
