Performance of the action displayed: Open the protective coverinsert the MA-zero gauge in the
elevating table rail located on the fixed side of the conveyor secure the gauge using screws close
protective cover Switch on the control unit. The following display appears:
"PLEASE PRESS <START> KEY"
4. After "START" has been pressed, the nozzle is lowered into the large hole for "measuring" (Ø 5mm) for
"measuring". The following query is displayed:
NOZZLE IN MEASUR. HOLE? (5 mm)
5. Check the nozzle position and press the appropriate function key YES / NO.
When NO is pressed: the teaching mode is activated screen display:
GUIDE NOZZLE TO MACHINE ZERO POS.
USE TEACH-PANEL
Performance of the action:
Select "slow" on the teach panel, if necessary Teach nozzle in a centered position above the
large opening in the gauge.
Press the button "Z-AXIS DOWN" on the teach panel nozzle is lowered into the large opening
(measuring hole).
If necessary, select "Z-AXIS UP" and correct X or Y-axis by "teaching".
Nozzle has been inserted into the measuring hole ("taught") "END" button on the teach panel:
The hole is measured the display appears as described under point 6.
When YES is pressed: measuring hole has been measured.
6. The following display appears on the screen:
DEVIATION OF MEASURED MACHINE ZERO POSITION (X,Y) 0 0 DIGIT..
CORRECTION VALUES (X; Y) ................ ........"
No deviation: Continue the measuring sequence with point 9, pressing YES (nozzle is in measuring
hole).
Deviation: A selection possibility for acceptance of the values is displayed:
CORRECT MACHINE ZERO POSITION?
7. Select the appropriate function key YES / NO.
NOTE:
The acceptance of the MA-zero point correction is prerequisite for further measuring routines.
When NO is pressed: No acceptance of the values display of the main menu.
When YES is pressed: Reference run transfer of the MA-zero point correction values to the memory.
8. The following display appears on the screen:
NOZZLE IN MEASUR. HOLE (3,5 mm)
9. Check whether the nozzle was able to enter the small hole properly, and then press the function key YES /
NO.

When NO is pressed (nozzle is not in measuring hole) the following display appears on the screen:
MEASUREMENT NOT IN ORDER
DO YOU WANT TO REPEAT MEASURING?
When NO: The measuring operation is continued as described below from YES onwards (nozzle is
in measuring hole).
When YES: The measurement is repeated (see above, point 4).
If the nozzle was not able to enter the checking hole properly when the measurement was repea-
ted, determine the cause.
Possible causes:
- Axis adjustment out of tolerance / nozzle concentricity out of tolerance (perform measuring routine!),
- Sluggishness / error on glass measuring scale / counting error (for corrective action see Service
Manual).
When YES (nozzle is in measuring hole): The placement head is positioned above the movable compo-
nent table
10. The following display appears on the screen:
REMOVE THE MACHINE ZERO POINT
PLEASE PRESS <START> KEY
Performance of the action:
Open the protective cover lift out gauge in upward direction close protective coverswitch on
the control Remove MA-zero point gauge Press "START" button display of the main menu.
NOTE
After acceptance of the X / Y-zero point correction values, the "min. and max. X / Y-travel paths" must al-
ways be determined manually and be entered in the MA-Data by means of the EDIT MENU.
7.4 Determining the Min. and Max. X / Y-Travel Paths
Following any change of the MA-zero point correction values, the X and Y-travel paths must be determined
and entered in the MA-Data.
No measuring routing is available for this purpose. Proceed as described in the following.
WARNING
!
!
DANGER OF A PLACEMENT HEAD CRASH!
To prevent the placement head from colliding with the tape reels of the electric feeder modules, the
conveyor width must
first be set up to maximum width.
Move the X and Y-gantry axes to the limit switches only after the above has been completed.
1. "CONVEYOR BELT WIDTH ADJUSTMENT" Adjust the conveyor to max. width (on machines up to
batch identity no. 3 using the handwheel).
2. Select "END" the main menu is displayed open the protective covers (corresponds to EMERGENCY STOP).
3. Open control cabinet disable X and Y-axes on the axis controller cards.

4. Now approach the limit switches of the X and Y-axes in the sequence specified below and make a note of
the values determined.
NOTE
Press against a suitable place on the gantry carriage or take hold of the head by the grip.
Sequence of steps for manual determination of values:
Move the X-axis into the direction of the output station until the limit switch releases an audible click.
- If no "clicking" can be heard: limit switch is defective or maladjusted (see Service Manual).
- Clicking can be heard: Read off the value (counts) from the axis controller card.
Deduct 20 counts from this value and take this value down as "max. X-axis travel range".
Push the X-axis toward the front in the direction of the input station until this limit switch audibly
clicks.
Again read off the value from the X-axis controller card again deduct 20 counts from this value
take this value [in counts] down as "min. X-axis travel range".
Now determine and make a note of the min. and max. travel paths of the Y-axis proceeding in the
same way as described for the X-axis (Caution: Y-axis above the movable component table toward
the left = max. Y-travel path) deduct 20 counts in each case take down these values properly as-
signing them to the min. / max. Y-travel paths.
5. As a final step, make absolutely sure that none of the limit switches is actuated !
Therefore slide the X and Y-axes sufficiently far toward the machine center.
NOTE
If one of the limit switches is actuated upon continuing the AutoCal program sequence, this would lead to
malfunctions!
6. Now re-activate the X and Y-axes on the axis controller cards.
7. Close the control cabinet door and the protective covers.
8. From the main menu now select the "EDIT MENU" and thereafter "X-AXIS" / "Y-AXIS".
9. Observing the correct assignments, enter the four values [in counts] in the MA-Data under "MIN. / MAX. X /
Y-AXES TRAVEL RANGES".
NOTE
If more than 20 counts are deducted the component camera is likely to lie outside the travel range. Pay
attention to the negative sign of the minimum travel paths (see Fig. 12.2).
10. From the EDIT MENU select "STORING" the values determined are saved to the work diskette.
11. Accept the travel path values via the "AXES INITIALIZING MENU" "ALL AXES".
