4 Preparatory Work to be Performed Before (up to and

including) the Start of the Calibration Procedure

The following work must be performed before calibration of your machine can be performed:

Select the correct set of diskettes and determine which type of HP printer is used (Think-Jet / Desk-Jet).

Check the MA-data before copying (e.g. activation of the installed options).

Copy the MA-data to the work diskette (for the calibration of HS-180 Placement Stations and Adhesive Station II).

Install the program including the printer driver on the hard disk (where a hard disk is available with sufficient

storage space).

Perform a final check to ensure all starting prerequisites are fulfilled.

Call up/start the program from the hard disk or from the diskette.

NOTE

If the station computer (HS) or the MS machine computer works runs on BASIC Version 5.0, the AutoCal

program should always be started from diskette. The same applies if computer 300 is only equipped

with a LIF-formatted 10MB or 20MB hard disk, or if there is not sufficient storage space on the hard disk.

➤ All of the above steps are described in this chapter in the same sequence as indicated.

4.1 Sets of Diskettes / Handling of Diskettes

AutoCal program version 114.xxx is delivered on 2 different sets of diskettes.

4.1.1 Designation and Contents of the Diskettes

Set of DD diskettes, comprising 5 DD diskettes:

• Start diskette : BASIC operating system and AUTOST program

• Installation diskette 1 : AutoCal program and Think-Jet printer drivers

• Installation diskette 2 : machine-specific modules

• Printer driver diskette 1 : printer driver for Think-Jet printer at the HPIP bus (DST.001.006)

• Printer driver diskette 2 : Printer driver for Desk-Jet printer at the parallel bus (DST.001.006)

Set of HD diskettes, comprising 4 DD diskettes and 1 HD diskette:

• Start diskette (DD) : BASIC operating system and AUTOST program

• Installation diskette 1 (1+2, HD): complete AutoCal program and Think-Jet printer driver

• Printer driver diskette 1 (DD) : printer driver for Think-Jet printer at HPIP bus (DST.001.006)

• Printer driver diskette 2 (DD) : printer driver for Desk-Jet printer at parallel bus (DST.001.006)

NOTE

If the Desk-Jet printer is used, BASIC Version 6.21 must be installed on all computers that are equipped with

a hard disk. This version is supplied from LC-BASIC version 209 and SRHx 225 onwards, as well as from MS-

version 206. If the wrong BASIC version is installed on the computer, error 12 is signaled during the print-out.

4.1.2 General Information About Handling Diskettes During Installation or Star-

ting From Diskette

The set of DD diskettes is used with computers that are not equipped with a hard disk.

If the station computer is equipped with an internal

hard disk

and one of the new HP printer, and if there is

enough storage space on the hard disk, you should

install

the AutoCal program as well as

all

driver pro-

grams that were delivered

and

the BASIC operating system onto the hard disk. Installation from diskette is

menu-controlled, as usual.

If the HS station computer (Placement Station/Adhesive Station II) or the computer of the MS machine uses

BASIC version 5.0

, the AutoCal program is

started from diskette. The same applies

if the computer is not

equipped with a hard disk, or if there is not enough storage space

on the internal hard disk. From AUTO_SMD

program version 106 onward it is possible to start the AutoCal software via the following menu option:

Starting programs from diskette.

If the computer is equipped with an HD-disk drive, installation diskette 1 (

) must be used in order to avoid

unnecessary changing of diskettes.

When

changing diskettes

it may occur that the first access to the diskette is unsuccessful when files are se-

arched for. In this event, the following message is displayed:

File not found: NAME

Pressing function key F8 "AGAIN" the file is searched for again and then found.

program installation.

4.1.3 Simple Handling of Diskettes Containing Printer Drivers (Operation Without

Hard Disk)

The driver for the Think-Jet printer is already contained on installation diskettes 1 (DD and HD set). If, how-

ever, a Desk-Jet printer is used and the AutoCal program is not run from a hard disk, the Think-Jet driver on

installations diskette 1 must be replaced by the Desk-Jet driver

before

the program is started. This

speeds

AutoCal procedures and avoids unnecessary changing of diskettes. Copying is performed on a computer

which is equipped with a hard disk:

Insert the diskette containing the printer drivers.

Copy file "DST" from the diskette to the hard disk.

. Insert installation diskette 1.

Delete file "DST" on installation diskette 1.

Copy file "DST" from the hard disk to the diskette.

Delete "DST" from the hard disk.
