DANGER OF ACCIDENT / DANGER OF CRASH
For the performance of the following activities you must be familiar with the contents of chapter 2 "Safety"
and the description of the respective menu options in chapter 5. In addition, for the performance of Indivi-
dual Checks pay attention to chapter 6!
About the procedure:
The operational procedure for the routine checks to be performed on Adhesive Station II is for the most
part identical to the procedure for HS-180 machines, chap. 7. The procedure for Adhesive Station II is
therefore described in condensed form, the differences are highlighted in the following text.
Further important information is contained in the description of the menu options in section 5.2.
As is the case on the HS-180, the PCB camera (here ADHESIVE MENU) must have already been cali-
brated before glass mapping is carried out.
As on the HS-180, the "min. and max. X/Y-travel paths" (analogously to section 7.4) must be manually
determined and entered in the EDIT MENU following any change of the MA-zero point correction values.
When the AutoCal measuring sequence has been terminated, perform the "Final Work of Calibration"
as described for Adhesive Station II in section 10.2.
1. Ensure that the requirements for calibrations have been fulfilled (see section 4.2.5 "Checklist HS-180:.........").
2. Start the AutoCal program from the hard disk / diskette (section 4.2) the machine selection menu appears
(section 1.4.1) insert work diskette containing the MA-data select machine type for Adhesive Station II:
CHECK HS180 WITH SW V2.01
or:
CHECK HS180 WITH SW V2.03/2.08/2.09/UNIX (ICOS 2 Q)
If AutoCal is started on Adhesive Station "I", the following error message is displayed following the
loading of the MA-Data:
MEASURING OF GLUE STATION I IS NOT POSSIBLE WITH AUTOCAL
In this case, confirm with "RETURN". The AUTOCAL program is terminated.
If the MA-Data are not found, if they are either incomplete, faulty or do not correspond to the selected
SW version, a corresponding error message (see page 7-1, point 3) is displayed.
3. After compatibility of the MA-Data has been established, the following display appears (for complete text
see page 7-2):
WARNING
THIS PROGRAM ...............!"
4. From this point onwards, proceed as described from "WARNING" onwards (page 7-2) and pay attention
to the following on Adhesive Station II:
DANGER: When you respond to the question "HEAD IN UPPER POSITION?" with YES, the head must really
be in its top position!

If NO is selected (head is not in top position): Display of the main menu error in the compressed air
branch of the dispensing stroke:
Switch off machine eliminate the malfunction (compressed air branch / pressure spring / solenoid valve).
If YES is selected: Gantry reference run (!) is performed display of the main menu of Adhesive
Station II (see Fig. 1.2). Start calibration with "CHECK X-/Y AXIS ADJUSTMENT".
8.1 EDIT MENU
Information about the general procedure in the EDIT MENU is contained in section 7.1.1.
After changing the MA-zero point correction values, the manually determined "DETERMINE MAX. AND
MIN. Z-AXES TRAVEL RANGES" (see section 7.4) are to be entered in the EDIT MENU.
8.2 CHECK AXIS ADJUSTMENT
The X and Y-axis adjustment is always to be tested before the first measuring routine is carried out.
Perform the procedure analogously to section 7.2.
8.3 MEASURING MACHINE ZERO POSITION
Tools and testing aids required:
MA-zero point insert for Adhesive Station II, item no. 02102407 *
New MA-zero gauge (with 2 holes), item no. 00120060
Spherical hexagon socket screw key M3
* referred to as "adhesive zero gauge" or "K-N-L" on the screen!
1. Select "MEASURE MACHINE ZERO POSITION" press the "Start" button the "Bero movable table
side" is approached and the adhesive dispenser head positioned to the left in service position the following
screen display appears:
EXCHANGE RIGHT ADH. CARTRIDGE FOR KLEBER-NULLPUNKT-LEHRE (K-N-L)
MEASURE MACHINE ZERO POSITION
INSTALL THE MACHINE ZERO POINT
PLEASE PRESS <START> KEY
Performance of the action: Open the machine base door at the compressed air unit reduce the
compressed air supply for the stroke cylinders (dispensing stroke) to approx. 3 bar (to preclude any
distortions upon measuring the MA-zero point) close machine base door open protective cover
remove the right adhesive cartridge (= cartridge closest to the fixed conveyor side) in its place in-
stall the adhesive zero point insert install gauge on fixed conveyor side and secure with screws
close protective cover press the "Start" button.
2. The K-N-L enters the large hole. Thereafter the following query is displayed:
IS NOZZLE IN LARGE MEASURING HOLE (5MM)

Check the position of the K-N-L and press the appropriate function key YES / NO.
If YES is pressed: The hole is measured display of the deviation (see point 3).
If NO is pressed: The teach mode is activated and the following screen display appears:
TEACH ADH. NOZZLE INTO MACHINE ZERO POSITION
USE TEACH-PANEL
Performance of the action: Using the buttons on the teach panel insert the nozzle (K-N-L) into the large
hole (for details refer to section 7.3 from point 5 onwards) press the "END" button on the teach panel.
3. The values determined are displayed:
DEVIATION OF MEASURED MACHINE ZERO POSITION [ X,Y ] -1 1 DIGIT
CORRECTION VALUES (X,Y) -23133 -3475
CORRECT MACHINE ZERO POSITION ?
The new correction values are always to be accepted by pressing the function key YES. The gantry
axes are thus re-initialized and the new correction values adopted. The acceptance of the new values
is a precondition for all further calibrations.
4. The following query is displayed on the screen:
IS NOZZLE IN SMALL MEASURING HOLE (3.5MM)
The further procedure is the same as described in section 7.3, from point 9 onwards.
Final actions are as follows: Remove MA-zero point (MA-zero point gauge) the MA-zero point insert
remains installed in the adhesive dispenser head for performance of the measuring routine "DETER-
MINE CALIBRATION FACTORS OF HEAD CAMERA" close protective cover press the "Start"
button display of the main menu select "STORING"
NOTE
If you do not accept the MA-zero point, i.e. if you are terminating the AutoCal procedure at this stage, you
must reinstall the adhesive cartridges and adjust the pressure the dispensing stroke at 3.5 bar!
8.4 DETERMINE PCB EDGE FIXED TABLE
Carry out the procedure as described for the HS-180 in section 7.8. The "TRACK MEASURING MENU"
requirement is dispensed with for Adhesive Station II. Subsequently continue with section 8.6. Reason:
"CALIBRATION FACTORS..." must be performed before the glass mapping procedure!.
8.5 MAPPING MENU (GLASS MAPPING)
Glass mapping on Adhesive Station II is identical to the glass mapping procedure on HS-180 placement stations.
First determine the calibration factors of the head camera and the camera offset incl. dispensing needle
offset.
Remove the MA-zero point insert (K-N-L) and adhesive cartridges before starting the glass mapping pro-
cedure (safety precaution to protect the glass plate)!
Proceed with the glass mapping procedure exactly as described for the HS-180 in section 7.10.
