1.8 Feature Description
1.8.1 Bulk Fluid Reservoir
The bulk fluid reservoir increases productivity and improves cost of ownership with longer intervals
between fluid replacement, resulting in less downtime due to material change-out and fewer consumables.
The fluid reservoir is 600 cc (20 oz.) and includes a remote feed and fluid level sensor. The ability to use
bulk feed is application and material dependent.
1.8.2 Calibrated Process Jetting (CPJ)
Calibrated Process Jetting (CPJ), also called Mass Flow Calibration (MFC) for needle dispensing, is a
patented feature that enables the user to specify the dot weight/mass per dot. Dispense patterns are
programmed with a specified weight. At user-specified intervals, a high-precision scale takes dot weight
measurements. Fluidmove software includes a fluid manager where the user specifies how the flow rate is
to be taken to help ensure that a statistically meaningful flow rate value is obtained.
1.8.3 Cleanroom
All standard S2-9XXX Series Dispensing System configurations meet ISO Class 6 Cleanroom
specifications with the exhaust vent on.
The scalable S2-9XXC Cleanroom configuration is specifically designed for ISO Class 5 environments
and for applications that are sensitive to contamination by submicron-sized particles, such as wafer-level
packaging. The S2-9XXC Cleanroom system is equipped with a stainless-steel enclosure. Its high-flex
electrical cables are enclosed in a cleanroom-certified jacket that reduces particulation and outgassing.
The Ultra-Low Particulate Air (ULPA) filter provides a downward particle-free air column within the
dispense area. All pneumatic valves are exhausted to the bottom of the machine. House vacuum is also
required for valve purge and to hold workpieces to the tooling.
1.8.4 Computer and Software
The system is equipped with a laptop computer with a Windows operating system and Fluidmove 6.0 or
higher dispensing software.
1.8.5 Conveyor
The conveyor uses multi-move technology which allows parts to move concurrently. Simultaneous
movement significantly decreases convey time, contributing to increased throughput. In one sequence, a
part is transported from the upstream machine while the dispensing system unloads a workpiece from the
dispense station to the downstream machine.
1.8.6 Dispensing Valves
The dispensing system supports the following Asymtek jets and valves:
• DJ-9500 Series DispenseJet
• DV-02 Pinch Tube Valve
• IntelliJet
• DV-03 High-Pressure Valve with Suckback
• NexJet
• DV-05 Diaphragm Valve with Suckback
• DV-7000
• DV-07 Adjustable Liquid Valve
• DV-8000C
• DV-09 Needle Valve
• DV-01 Syringe Dispensing Valve
Refer to the appropriate dispensing valve manual for additional information.

1.8.7 Dual Applicator Dispensing
1.8.7.1 Dual-Action Dispensing
Dual-action enables dispensing of two fluids with two jets, two valves, or a jet and a valve. The two
applicators operate independently. Dual-action dispensing is ideal for applications that require two
different materials dispensed on the same part, and for high-mix production when several product types
are manufactured during the same shift.
1.8.7.2 Manual Dual-Simultaneous Dispensing (MDS)
The Manual Dual Simultaneous (MDS) option supports the use of two identical Asymtek DJ-Series or
DV-Series dispensing valves, mounted on a single Z-head, to simultaneously dispense fluid at two
locations. It is ideal for applications where dispense accuracy (placement and volume) is less critical.
Ideal parts include multi-up panelized or patterned parts with consistent spacing. Dispense time is reduced
by 50 percent. For applications that require greater dispense accuracy, see 1.10.8.2 Automatic Dual-
Simultaneous Dispensing (ADS) and 1.10.8.3 Auto Dual Simultaneous Dispensing +Z (ADS +Z).
1.8.7.3 Automatic Dual-Simultaneous Dispensing (ADS)
The Auto Dual Simultaneous (ADS) option supports the use of two identical Asymtek DJ-Series or
DV-Series dispensing valves, mounted on a single Z-head, to simultaneously dispense fluid at two
locations. Automatic Dual-Simultaneous Dispensing compensates for valve alignment and workpiece
skew in the X-and Y-axis, unlike the MDS (Manual Dual-Simultaneous Dispensing) configuration. It
provides motorized and software-controlled corrections, based on angles calculated from a single pattern,
to allow for more accurate dispensing of dual valve systems.
1.8.7.4 Auto Dual Simultaneous Dispensing +Z (ADS +Z)
The Auto Dual Simultaneous plus motorized Z (ADS+Z) option provides motor-controlled X-, Y-, and
Z-axis movement for two identical DJ-Series or DV-Series dispensing valves, mounted on a single
Z-head, to simultaneously dispense fluid at two locations. This feature provides the same capability as the
standard ADS feature but includes a motor driven Z adjustment for Valve 2 instead of the micrometer.
This greatly improves the dispensing accuracy of Valve 2.
1.8.8 Emergency Machine Off (EMO)
The dispensing system features two EMO buttons that the operator or service technician can use to
immediately stop all dispensing operations in case of emergency. These buttons are located on the front
and back of the machine. This feature helps prevent injury to personnel and damage to the dispensing
system and workpieces.
1.8.9 Fids-on-the-Fly
Asymtek’s Fids-on-the-Fly (FOF) option is a high-speed fiducial recognition method. With Fids-on-the-
Fly, the camera is always in motion, capturing images on the fly while the system is moving.
1.8.10 Heaters
1.8.10.1 Contact or Impingement
The system is plumbed for one station of contact and air impingement heating. The system includes a
closed-loop PID controller with software programmable set points for control of contact and air
impingement heater tooling. Dedicated, heated tooling is often required to enable proper fluid flow once
dispensed on the substrate. Heated tooling is custom designed depending on the substrate and carrier type.
Temperature values are stored in the Fluidmove software recipe and automatically retrieved when loading
the program.
