1.8.23 Service Station
The service station consists of:
• Dispense tile: A ceramic tile dispensed upon during system offset routines.
• Tactile needle sensor: Measures the offset between the needle/nozzle and the height sensor.
• Purge station: Small reservoir that contains a disposable plastic cup (#6 Plastic Polystyrene
material) and is attached to a vacuum generator. Air flowing through the purge boot into the
cup removes excess fluid on the dispensing valve needle/nozzle.
• Scale: Measures the weight of dispensed fluid and sends the information to the Fluidmove
software for mass flow calibration (needle dispensing) or calibrated process jetting (jet
dispensing). The scale is standard on the S2-9XXP Dispensing System and an option on the
S2-9XXX Dispensing Systems.
1.8.24 Single-Axis Automatic Tilt
The single-axis automatic tilt option provides angled jetting for increased dispensing flexibility. Single-
axis tilt is configurable (in X or Y direction) and saved within the Fluidmove
recipe.
1.8.25 Ventilation Exhaust System
The ventilation exhaust system works in conjunction with the facility exhaust system to remove excess
heat, fumes, or odors into an exhaust vent. The exhaust system can be configured as either down or
updraft and can remove fumes that are lighter and/or heavier than air.
1.8.26 Vision System
The vision system includes a digital camera, light source and laptop computer. The software consists of
Fluidmove software and its pattern recognition engine. The camera communicates bi-directionally to the
host computer via gigabit ethernet.
The pattern recognition system allows the definition of both global and local fiducials. Global fiducials
compensate for low-tolerance fixtures. Local fiducials compensate for skew on individual parts within the
fixture. The pattern recognition system is designed to automatically correct for workpiece misalignment
and can also be used to teach dispensing locations on the substrate. Substrate images taught during
programming (along with lighting levels) are stored in the program and automatically retrieved when
loading the program.
1.8.26.1 Standard Vision (S2-9XXX)
The vision system includes a digital 640 x 480 pixel camera and light source. The customer can choose
one of two light configurations: RGB direct on-axis lighting or low-angle, off-axis lighting (red only)
which is used to illuminate difficult surfaces. The physical dimensions of the two light sources are
slightly different, but field of view specifications are identical.
1.8.26.2 Monocle Vision System
The monocle vision system is a 5-light vision system that features five independently adjustable LEDs at
different angles. It consists of a high-resolution camera (1400 x 1024 pixels) and lights source for
improved fiducial lighting. Three (3) telecentric lens magnification options: 0.5X (half power), 1.0X (one
power), or 2.0X (two power) are available. Only one lens is supplied with each unit. The monocle vision
system is standard on the S2-9XXP.

1.9 System Illustrations
The figures in this section show views and features of the dispensing system. Callouts locate major
components, options, and switches. The numbers associated with the descriptions correspond to the
callout numbers in the illustration. Detailed operating instructions for some of these features are
addressed in other sections of this manual. System features are shown in Figure 1-3 through Figure 1-17.
