2.2 Preconditions
Machines with vacuum pump have a higher energy and a lower compressed air consumption than
machines without a vacuum pump. Therefore, adjust the power and compressed air supply to the
relevant specifications.
The SIPLACE C&P20P/M2/P2/M3 is equipped for vacuum operation as a default.
If this has been converted for compressed air mode, it can be converted back again for vacuum
mode, using the "Aperture ring assembly C&P20 P" [03116883Sxx] conversion kit.

2.3 Restrictions
The SIPLACE Twin and the SIPLACE CPP are not compatible with vacuum pump operation.
The proportional controller (pressure control valve) needs to be operated with compressed air for
all placement heads.
The SIPLACE Twin is supplied by the proportional controller (pressure control valve). Conversion
to vacuum mode is therefore not possible.
The holding circuit of a SIPLACE CPP is not designed for vacuum operation.
NOTICE
Return cylinder unable to move out
Do not convert the pneumatic supply for the gantry affected to vacuum mode. If the com-
pressed air supply for this head is converted to vacuum operation, the return cylinder will be
unable to move out and the Z axis will remain in its top position.

2.5 Vacuum pump - special features
The vacuum pump is switched on and off with the machine. The software automatically takes into
account a stopping time of six minutes on switch-off, to prevent the motor overheating from the in-
rush current peaks.
NOTICE
Maximum of two SIPLACE C&P20x
This vacuum pump can supply a maximum of two SIPLACE C&P20x. If using a placement
machine with four SIPLACE C&P20x, you therefore need two vacuum pumps. These
vacuum pumps are fitted at locations 1 and 4, behind the COT inserts in the machine base.
NOTICE
Retrofit each machine separately
The vacuum pump is connected to the power supply for the placement machine and can
therefore only be operated when the machine is switched on. When a line is converted to
vacuum operation, each machine in the line therefore needs to have its own vacuum
pumps.
