5. Various Functions
5.1 PEC Recognition Function
In normal cases, two ducial marks are put on a PCB and the coordinate data and
positional deviations are detected by the PEC recognition camera. This function
automatically corrects placement positions of components according to the
recognized positional deviations.
There are three kinds of PEC recognition functions - "Global", "Image", and
"Local". The global recognition function covers all positional deviations over one
PCB and is used to correct them. The image recognition function is used to correct
positional deviations for each individual patterns. The local recognition function
is used to correct positional deviations for each component placement point.
Note
(a) When PCBs are positioned on the PCB positioning section and
mechanical accuracy in PCB positioning varies due to variation in
outer dimensions of PCBs, the PEC recognition function can work
effectively to reduce such inaccuracy.
(b) Fiducial marks are put to detect the position of placement patterns.
Therefore, the positional relation between ducial marks and placement
patterns must be constant. Otherwise, the placement accuracy cannot be
improved.
5.2 Functions related to Component Picks and Placement
5.2.1 Automatic Feeder Axis Adjustment Function
When a component is picked up by the vacuum nozzle and shifted from the
correct pick-up position, this function uses the recognition system to correct the
deviations for accurate component placement. By feeding the recognized amount
of correction back to the pickup position, the pickup position can also be brought
close to the specied one.
5.2.2 Pickup Position Automatic Teaching Function
When a tape feeder is pulled out or inserted, the feeder position is automatically
recognized and the recognized position is fed back to the pickup position data,
making it possible to bring the pickup position as close to the accurate (specied)
one as possible.

5.3 Functions related to Component Replenishment
5.3.1 Alternate Feeder Function (Mode)
When a feeder becomes short of components, this function selects a prepared
spare feeder. After all components are picked up from the spare feeder, another
spare feeder is selected. The prepared spare feeders must contain the components
of frequently used types.
The feeders can be replenished collectively with components, prolonging the
interval time for component replenishment.
5.3.2 Automatic Recovery Function
When this function is used and a component shortage error is detected, the
machine is not stopped and a message is issued as machine information,
prompting the operator to replenish components.
The machine continues to place the components other than the missing ones
(component-shortage detected ones). After it has placed all components (excluding
the missing ones), it stops running without discharging the PCB.
When component shortage errors, etc., are detected in different feeders at a short
interval, the loss time can be reduced because the components in short can be
replenished collectively.
5.3.3 Component Remainder Management Function
This function controls the number of remaining components and issues a warning
message, indicating that the machine will soon become short of components.
When the waring message is received, the component replenishment can be
prepared beforehand, reducing some loss time.
5.3.4 Splicing Function
This function makes it possible to splice the end of the component tape of the tape
feeder and a new component tape for component replenishment.
Thus, the time of the automatic operation stop can be reduced.
A splicing tape and a tape cutting jig (option) are required for the tape splicing.

Chapter 2
Operation Windows
In this chapter, the basic items necessary to operate the machine, such
as the system start-up and shut-down procedures, operation window
configuration, operation environments and main menu bar, etc., are
described.
It is recommended that the person who operates this machine has learned the basic
operation procedures of the Windows. There are many guidebooks to Windows. It
is recommended that operators familiarize themselves with the proper procedures.
