TIP
• For handling the feeder of 12 mm or wider, set the components pitch on the temporary tape set station / the
power station. Then, press the “FUNC” and “FEED” buttons or the “FUNC” and “BACK” buttons simultaneously. The
feeder feeds the tape by the set pitch. See the methods of memorizing feeder feed pitch in each station in
"4.1.4 Setting board data of component tape" in this chapter for the setting, .
• Continuous feed is possible by pressing and holding the "FEED / BACK" button.
• There is no continuous feed for the "FUNC + FEED" and "FUNC + BACK" buttons (even if pressed and held).
• See the “SS Feeder User’s Manual” for setting the feed rate of SS feeder.

Check the tape support plate position.
If the feeder type is 12 mm or wider, it is required to adjust the tape support plate according to the
components shape. Adjust the tape support plate position by loosening the 2 adjustment screws.
Locate the leading edge of the tape support plate between the standby position and the pickup
position (closer to the pickup position). Locate the leading edge of the tape support plate somewhat
closer to the pickup position between the standby position and the pickup position.

CAUTION
If the tape support plate is not adjusted, the components positions after removing the cover tape may get unstable,
causing possible incorrect components pickup.

CAUTION
• If using the carrier tape without cutting the excess component, it could block the path way for discharging the tape.
• Cutting a hard emboss tape too short causes the carrier tape to touch at the slope entrance, then the feed can be
faulty.

4.1.2 Setting feeders on the feeder exchange carriage
This section describes the procedure to set the feeder with component tape on the feeder exchange carriage.
For example here, ZS feeder and SS feeder are set on ZS feeder exchange carriage.
c
CAUTION
Before setting up the feeder on the mounter main body, be sure to load the tape feeder with component tape in the
temporary tape set station or the power station for off-line setup. Setting the tape feeder with component tape cannot
be set up on the mounter.
n
NOTE
The following 3 tape feeders, SS feeder, ZS feeder and Auto loading feeder, are available with the machine.
It is required to open the guide rail cover for the carriage to set SS feeder on ZS feeder exchange carriage.
n
If ZS feeder is set on ZS feeder exchange carriage
1
Clean the feeder plate.
Before setting the feeder on the carriage, remove dust or foreign matter from the feeder plate. Use the
feeder plate cleaning brush that comes with the machine, a vacuum cleaner (home use) or the vacu-
um assembly (option) to get rid of dust or foreign matter on the feeder plate.
c
CAUTION
If a component or foreign matter disturbs when setting the feeder plate, the feeder may not sit there correctly, making
it unable to pick up components in a stable manner.
Foreign object where the feeder sits in may cause electrical short circuit, possibly causing devices to be damaged.
When cleaning the feeder plate, be sure not to let foreign object contaminate the connectors.
