1.3.1 Overview of SIPLACE SX placement machines
The SIPLACE SX must be prepared for a gantry upgrade. The SIPLACE SX placement machines
are available in different variants.

The head configurations available may be limited, according to the design concerned.

The placement machine is prepared for a gantry up-
grade (SX1), i.e. a trailing cable and two Gantry Control
Units (GCU) are preinstalled for one gantry.
SIPLACE SX +

Without gan-

The placement machine is prepared for a gantry up-
grade (SX1/2), i.e. two trailing cables and three Gantry
Control Units (GCU) are preinstalled for two gantries.
SIPLACE SX1
unprepared
One gantry The placement machine is not prepared for a gantry
upgrade, i.e. the trailing cable and two Gantry Control
Units (GCU) are preinstalled for one gantry. An upgrade
to SIPLACE SX2 needs to be performed by the SI-
PLACE Service team.
SIPLACE SX1
prepared
One gantry The placement machine is prepared for a gantry up-
grade (SX2) i.e. two trailing cables and three Gantry
Control Units (GCU) are preinstalled for two gantries.
SIPLACE SX2
Two gantries The placement machine can be torn down to give a
SIPLACE SX1 Prepared. The machine is then prepared
for a gantry upgrade to SX2, i.e. two trailing cables and
three Gantry Control Units (GCU) are available.
