This section describes how to maintain the machine pe-
riodically.
1. Precautionary Items before Maintenance
Periodic lubrication, inspections, and cleaning work should be performed
for precise machine operations.
It is recommended that lubrication, inspections, and cleaning work be
performed periodically.
Only qualified personnel should perform lubri-
cation, inspections, and cleaning work carefully
in compliance with the specified procedures.
Before performing maintenance work, turn off
the power and air sources and lock the power
breaker using the padlock.
Refer to "2.4 Precautionary Measures before
Maintenance Work" in "Safety Precautions" for
details.
After cleaning with a rag, be sure to remove the waste thread com-
pletely. Otherwise, the machine will break down.
Wipe off old grease before lubrication. Otherwise, the effect of grease
will decrease.
When air is used for cleaning, do not blow air to any spots other than
the specified ones.
If dispersed dirt and dust adhere to various sensors, ball screws,
linear guides, etc., the machine will break down.

CAUTION
2. Preparation before Maintenance
2.1 Preparation for the Cleaning Tools
Brush
Use a brush whose bristles do not come off if possible.
Rag
Use a rag made of such material (cotton, etc.) that produces as less
waste thread as possible.
A clean rag must be used depending on a spot to be cleaned.
Oiled Rag
Use a rag made of such material as cotton, etc., that produces less
waste thread and soak it with a little amount of grease to be used for
lubrication.
Too much grease should not be applied and any different
type of grease should not be mixed into the specified one.
Air Gun
Use one on the market.
Do not use the air gun for any spots other than the specified ones.
If dirt and dust are dispersed, they may stick to a sensor, causing a
breakdown of the machine.
Vacuum Cleaner
Use one on the market.
If the suction hole of the vacuum cleaner is changed to a
smaller one in diameter, some spots can be cleaned more
easily.
Air Blow for Camera
Use one on the market.
Container, etc.
Use a container big enough to hold water drained from the air regu-
lator while cleaning the regulator.
