NOTE
Fiducials within one PCB structure are effective in ascending order (from the bottom to the top). This means,
for example, that for the position recognition of a component the fiducial set applies which is located closest to
the component (see Fig. 8.1.9).
Ink spots within a PCB structure are effective in descending order (from top to bottom). If, for example, an ink
spot was set within partial PCB structure which in turn contains substructures with ink spots, this (higher-
order) ink spot is decisive for the assembly of the PCB (see Fig. 8.1.9).
The Fiducial Editor (see Fig. 8.1.10) is called up from the window of the Cluster Editor (see Fig. 8.1.8) by clicking
on the field Edit fiducials.

The window of the Fiducial Editor is subdivided as follows:
- Menu bar
- Display area
- Editing area
- Command area
Menu Bar
The menu bar contains the "FILE" and "HELP" menus.
NOTE
Since the functions and operation of the "FILE" and "HELP" menus are similar to those in other application
programs of the line computer, they are described comprehensively in chapt. 2.
Selection Fields
Two selection fields are contained in the window of the Fiducial Editor. The "Fiducial set" selection field contains
a listing of the names of already-defined fiducial sets. If a fiducial set has been selected, the fiducials contained
in the set are displayed in the "Fiducials of fiducial set" selection field (see Fig. 8.1.10).
Editing area (see section 8.1.5.1)
This area contains the editing field for the names of a fiducial set, the number of a fiducial and the x/y coordinates
for the definition of the fiducial position.
Command area (see section 8.1.5.2)
The respective actions to be performed on the fiducial sets and fiducials can be executed by activating the
buttons in the command area.
8.1.5.1 Editing Area of the Fiducial Editor
Fiducials and fiducial sets can be defined and edited in the editing area (see Fig. 8.1.10). The possibilities and
presettings are described in the following.
- Fiducial set name
This field serves to define the name of the fiducial set which may contain several fiducials. The name
can be composed of up to 17 characters. Characters used may only comprise letters, numbers and
underscores, e.g. PM_Set_1.
● Activate Insert in the command area.
● Enter fiducial set name.

- Entering Fiducial Set
● Click on Accept fiducial set button.
Or:
● Press RETURN key when the cursor is positioned on the editing field "Fiducial set name".
The name of the fiducial set appears now in the "Fiducial set" selection field.
- Fiducial
The number of the fiducial is entered in this field. It can consist of max. 3 digits.
(Each number from 1 to 149 is assigned to a specific fiducial shape).
● Activate Insert.
● Select Fiducial set in the display area.
● Enter Fiducial set name.
- X [mm]
In this field the x-offset (see Fig. 8.1.3), referred to the PCB zero point, is to be entered. In the case of
placement position fiducials, the x-offset (see Fig. 8.1.3) entered is referred to the component center.
It is possible to enter 3 decimal places before and 3 decimal places behind the decimal point (up to
max. 999.999).
● Enter X-offset.
- Y [mm]
In this field the y-offset, referred to the PCB zero point, is to be entered.
In the case of placement position fiducials, the y-offset entered is referred to the component center.
It is possible to enter 3 decimal places before and 3 decimal places behind the decimal point (up to
max. 999.999).
● Enter Y-offset.
- Entering Fiducial
● Click on Accept fiducial data button.
Or:
● Press RETURN key when the cursor is positioned on one of the 3 editing fields for fiducials.
The edited data are now entered into the computer. Thereafter, the number of the new fiducial is
displayed in the "Fiducials of fiducial set:" display area and allocated to the previously selected
fiducial set.
