5 Maintenance
5.1 Overview
Performing the recommended maintenance procedures at the intervals suggested in this manual increases
system life and ensures high quality machine performance for every production run.
This section covers the following topics:
• General Maintenance and Inspection
• Common Cylinder Replacement
• Preventive Maintenance Schedule
• Belt Tensioning Adjustment
• Removal and Replacement of Access Panels
• Magazine Gripper Replacement
• Lubrication Requirements
5.2 Safety First
Operation of your FlexTRAK-OH Material Handler involves mechanical devices, air pressure, and
electrical power. It is essential that every person servicing or operating the FlexTRAK-OH fully
understands all hazards, risks, and safety precautions. When properly operated and maintained, the
FlexTRAK-OH Material Handler should be safe and reliable. Refer to Section 2 - Safety prior to
performing maintenance procedures
.
WARNING! Allow only qualified personnel to perform the following tasks. Observe and
follow the safety instructions in this document and other related documentation.
WARNING! Lockout and Tagout (LOTO) power to the FlexTRAK-OH before performing
service or maintenance on the FlexTRAK-OH. See 2.19 Service Shutdown for
details.
5.3 Hazardous Materials
Some maintenance procedures involve the use of hazardous materials. Always follow all applicable
national and local statutes and regulations, facility safety practice, and the material manufacturer’s Safety
Data Sheet (SDS) recommendations.
5.4 Recordkeeping
The type of maintenance performed should be recorded in the FlexTRAK-OH maintenance records. At
minimum, dates, procedure type, technician name, part numbers/serial numbers of replaced parts, and
post-procedure functional test results should be recorded.

5.5 General Maintenance and Inspection
Cleaning and inspecting the exterior and the interior of the FlexTRAK-OH Material Handler is the first
step in maintenance. The procedures in this section are for the major components of the FlexTRAK-OH
Material Handler. The sequence of the maintenance procedures may not necessarily be performed in the
order presented. Perform an initial inspection and visually inspect the exterior and the interior of the
system.
To inspect the exterior and interior of the system:
1. Look for obvious signs of wear and tear in all the assemblies, damage such as a bent or
broken strips, or damaged surfaces and parts.
2. Inspect all components for cleanliness, wear and tear, free movement, alignment, vibration-
free performance, and positive attachment of fasteners.
3. If cleaning is required, clean exterior surfaces using isopropyl alcohol (IPA) and a clean,
lint-free shop rag. Allow to air-dry.
NOTE Avoid use of an over-saturated cleaning rag. Do not allow excessive cleaning
solution to spill on surrounding surfaces.
4. If alignment and tightening of hardware is required, refer to the removal and installation
procedures in this chapter.
5. If components are worn, damaged, or otherwise indicate need for replacement, refer to
removal and installation procedures in this chapter.
6. Order parts immediately if the inspection finds damaged or worn parts to ensure time
delivery. Refer to Section 7 – Illustrated Parts Lists for part numbers and descriptions.
NOTE Inspection and cleaning of the interior of the FlexTRAK-OH Material Handler
requires removal of service access panels. Refer to 5.7 Removal and
Replacement of Access Panels for removal procedures.

5.6 Preventive Maintenance Schedule
Before starting machine preventive maintenance, make sure all the machine parts are functioning
properly. The following table is the recommended schedule and summary of performing maintenance
onto the machine.
CAUTION! Lockout and Tagout (LOTO) power to the FlexTRAK-OH before performing
service or maintenance on the FlexTRAK-OH. See 2.19 Service Shutdown for
details.
Table 5-1 Preventive Maintenance Schedule
Interval Component Method
Daily
Isolator Switch
Test the component function availability. Ensure electrical feed is
isolated.
EMO Button
Test the component function availability. Ensure all machine
movement stops.
Safety Interlock
Test the component function availability. Ensure all sliding doors
and conveyor covers are closed.
Weekly
Air Filter
Clean air filter. Drain out condensate water from the filter if there
is any.
Pressure Gauge Check the reading on the pressure gauge.
Pinch Wheel
Check to ensure proper functionality of pinch wheel assembly.
Ensure all pinch wheels are tightened properly on the linear
motion rail, and do not have any wear and tear.
Magazine Gripper
Check to ensure proper functionality of magazine gripper
assembly. Ensure the gripper is tightened properly onto the
gripper cylinder module.
Others Maintain general tidiness of cables, wirings, etc. on each station.
Semi-Annually
Motor
Ensure all motors are freely moving on each station without
abnormal sound during production run.
Belt Tensioning
Check belt tensioning using belt tension meter. Ensure the
tension values obtained are within the range of the factory
recommended value. Change the belt if there is wear and tear.
Magazine Conveyor
Ensure the conveyor can transfer the magazine until the
magazine reaches stopper position.
Sensor
Check to ensure proper functionality of sensor. Clean with brush
or air gun for any particles or dust.
Conversion Kit
Check to ensure proper functionality of conversion kit. Clean any
particles or dust with brush or air gun, especially on the input,
plasma chamber, and output buffer lanes.
Wiring Connection Ensure all wiring connections are functioning properly.
Yearly
Cylinders in all
Stations
Ensure cylinder rod movement is smooth without abnormal sound
during production run.
Solenoid Valve
Ensure solenoid valve switch indicator is ON when manual I/O
triggering is under test.
HMI Screen
Ensure screen display is clear and touch screen feature is
working.
Mobile Control
