1.8.3 Manual Production Process
The following steps outline the manual production process Refer to the item numbers in Figure 1-17.
1. Manually load the magazine with untreated strips to the magazine manual loading port (1)
and transfer the magazine to the magazine station (A).
2. The material transfer station will grip the magazine from the conveyor and load the strips
into the buffer lanes (B).
3. The strips will be transferred by the loader claw into the plasma chamber for treatment (C).
4. The treated strips will be transferred by the unloader claw from the plasma chamber to
unloader buffer (D).
5. The treated strips will be unloaded from the buffer lanes into the empty magazine (auto
transfer).
6. The material transfer station will unload the fully loaded magazine onto the conveyor (E).
7. The operator manually unloads the magazine with the treated strips from magazine manual
unloading port (2).

2 Safety
2.1 Overview
This section is intended to provide basic safety information necessary for operating and servicing the
FlexTRAK-OH Material Handler. The FlexTRAK-OH Material Handler is physically and electronically
connected to the March FlexTRAK-S System. Refer to the FlexTRAK Series Plasma Systems Installation,
Operation, and Maintenance Manual safety precautions when operating or servicing the FlexTRAK-S
System.

optimize safe operation.

Failure to properly operate and maintain the system in accordance with this
manual may jeopardize the built-in safety features.
NOTE Safety is considered a joint responsibility between the original equipment manufacturer
(March) and the end-user (owner). All safety precautions and practices should be in
accordance with local regulations and facility practice.

2.2 Intended Use
Use of March equipment in ways other than those described in the documentation supplied with the
equipment may result in injury to persons or damage to property. Some examples of unintended use of
equipment include:
Using incompatible materials
Making unauthorized modifications
Removing or bypassing safety guards or interlocks
Using incompatible or damaged parts
Using unapproved auxiliary equipment
Operating equipment in excess of maximum ratings
2.3 Basic Safety Precautions and Practices
Compliance with the following recommended precautions and practices reduces the risk of personal
injury or damage to property during operation and maintenance of the FlexTRAK-OH Material Handler.
WARNING! Failure to comply with any of the safety recommendations could cause serious
injury to the user or damage to the FlexTRAK-OH Material Handler.
2.4 Safety of Personnel
Only trained personal should be permitted to perform operation, maintenance, and
troubleshooting procedures.
Lock out and tag out power to the FlexTRAK-OH before performing service or
maintenance on the FlexTRAK-OH.
Locate, identify, and obey all safety warning labels on your system before initial use. See
2.9 Safety Warning Labels.
Immediately push the red Emergency Machine Off (EMO) button if personnel are in danger
of being injured. See 2.11 Emergency Shutdown.
During a system malfunction, follow the instructions on the system display.
Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry (watches, rings, etc.) while operating the system. Tie
back long hair to prevent it from being caught in moving parts.
Do not touch moving parts while the Material Handler is operating.
Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as recommended by facility
safety practices and the material manufacturer’s SDS. Example: ESD type safety shoes, and
hand glove. Check the PPE condition before wearing.
Make sure that the main power cable and main air supply hose are securely connected
before operating the FlexTRAK-OH Material Handler.
If in a confined room, ensure adequate and uninterrupted air ventilation, heating, and
cooling meet environmental stress limits of personnel and FlexTRAK-OH Material
Handler.
