If the version update file is not displayed on the File screen
The possible causes are as follows.
(Example: When the version update file is saved in the "HIOKI_MR8740" folder of the USB mem-
ory stick)
Wrong media is selected
Check the address displayed at the top of the screen.There is no problem if the address begins
with "USB1".
If the address does not begin with "USB1":
Click [Change Media] on the right of the File screen and then click [USB Stick] in the displayed
list.
Wrong folder is selected
Check the address displayed at the top of the screen. There is no problem if the address is
"USB1:\HIOKI_MR8740\".
If the address does not begin with "USB1:\HIOKI_MR8740\":
Left-click the part enclosed by a red line in the figure below until "USB1:\" is displayed for the
address. When it is displayed, double-click the HIOKI_MR8740 folder in the list.
Click [Change Media].
Click [USB Stick] to switch to the
USB memory stick.

Never use solvents such as benzene, alcohol, acetone, ether, ketones, thinners
or gasoline, as they can deform and discolor the case.
18.7 Disposing of the Instrument (Lithium Battery Removal)

The instrument contains a lithium battery for memory backup. Remove this battery before disposing of the
instrument.
Procedure ____________________________________________________
Required tools:
Phillips screwdriver, wire cutter: One each
Box wrench or long-nosed pliers
1. Verify that the power is off, and remove the connection cables and power cord.
2. Remove the screws and each parts as indicated in the next page diagram.
3. Pull the lithium battery up from the circuit board, and cut the two leads with a
wire cutter.
4. Remove the battery from the board.
18.7 Disposing of the Instrument (Lithium Battery
Removal)
To avoid electric shock, turn off the power switch and disconnect the power
cord and connection cords before removing the lithium battery.
Keep batteries away from children to prevent accidental swallowing.
Battery may explode if mistreated. Do not short-circuit, recharge, disassemble
or dispose of in fire.
When disposing of this instrument, remove the lithium battery and dispose of
battery and instrument in accordance with local regulations.
